Implants Inflammation – What To Do?

  • by

Prevent inflammation

Dental implants are high-quality and durable dentures that give patients a good attitude towards life. In some cases, however, the bone or gums around the implant can become inflamed. Then you have to act quickly.

The cause of inflammation is bacteria that adhere to the surfaces of the implants and dentures.

Chronic gum diseases such as periodontitis or general diseases or genetic predispositions can increase the tendency towards inflammation.

The good news: Patients can help prevent inflammation themselves. In fact, our experience is that the long-term success of implants is crucially dependent on the cooperation of the patient. As is so often the case, the basic requirement is good oral hygiene at home in combination with regular professional teeth cleaning by the professionals at the ZZZW. We also provide each implant patient with specific instructions and demonstrations. We recommend a visit to the clinic at least every six months for control and prophylaxis.

A visit to the clinic is all the more urgent if the patient notices a change such as swelling, reddening or discharge of secretions in the area of the implant. The dentist will then carry out the appropriate therapy.
